How to satisfy your inner blogging narcissist

Ok, so I haven’t been blogging  for very long…it’s actually harder than I thought! However,, one thing I have noticed is trying to get people to read your blog. And this where a certain kind of narcissism which I call blogging narcissism comes into play. I mean we all want people to read our most intimate thoughts, discuss our worldly opinions and in general just realise that we, as bloggers, are here to be reckoned with. So, it follows that if a blogger gets 100/1000/10000 etc visitors a day it boosts their inner narcissist.

The problem however is how to get those visitors. There are myriad of ways to attract visitors. Just read all the tips provided by sites such as Dailyblogtips, About weblogs, problogger and many others. These sites provide solid tips for bloggers who want to build up a steady serious readership.

If you are into numbers and instant gratification just start a porn blog. I tried my hand at the pornography business as an experiment just to see if I would get visitors. In this case gay sex. And my oh my, the internet is full of porn addicts aficionados. Within a day of setting up the blog and registering it at only two sites such as best male blogs and best gay blogs my readership jumped from 0 to 250.  Within a week I had 1300 unique visits and then after 3 weeks 4580 unique visitors.( Note: I am still getting used to terms such as unique visitors, bounce rate etc, thanks to Google Analytics) The thing is that my porn site was not unique. The content, though some of it quite hardcore, was not unique…and as we all know porn is easy to come by here on the always resourceful internet.

Though I do not regularly update my porn blog anymore it is an experiment I encourage any new open minded) blogger to try…just to keep busy if your real serious blog is not yet world renowned.

So, what have I learnt so far about blogging? Well, 1. People love pictures better than words. 2. People like filthy pictures even better. 3. If you don’t update regularly your visitors won’t come back…same like friends..if you got nothing new to say they won’t come visit often. Instead they will only come over if you have drinks, get drunk and then leave. 4. Content isn’t always king and 5. I got way too much time on my hands!!!!
